Free Evening Entertainment at Maritime Visitor Center

The Lake Superior Marine Museum Association (LSMMA), in conjunction with Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center, has scheduled a free Evening Entertainment Series for May 17 at the Visitor Center’s lower level lecture hall, 600 South Lake Avenue in historic Canal Park in Duluth, MN. Admission is free Tony Dierckins will present "Lost Duluth."

SUPERIOR, Wis. — Approximately 400 students will be eligible to receive diplomas when the University of Wisconsin-Superior conducts its 116th Spring Commencement at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, in Siinto S. Wessman Arena. The Commencement ceremony is open to the public.

Harbor House Crisis Shelters 5K Run/Walk

Get your "Walking/Running" shoes ready for the Harbor House Crisis Shelters 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, June 30. Runners take off at 9:00 a.m. and walkers leave at 9:15 a.m. The event will benefit homeless, single women and families in Douglas county.

Head to the Zoo for Mother's Day!

Treat mom to a day at the zoo for Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 13. Between 10 am and 1 pm the zoo will provide Mother’s Day cake, and coffee.

According to a press release, there will be a Teddy Bear Clinic for the kids. Bring your Teddy Bears or stuffed animals to the zoo for a vet check. The animals will be checked, bandaged, vaccinated and given a certificate of good health.

Friends of the Library Annual Book Sale is Friday and Saturday

The Friends of the Superior Public Library will hold their annual book sale this Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28.

The book sale is held in the lobby-area meeting rooms at the library, 1530 Tower Ave.  Donated books will be sold as a fundraiser.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Free Electronics Recycling

As a part of their Earth Month activities, Lake Superior College is teaming up with 5R Processors, Ltd. of Ladysmith, WI to help Duluth-Superior and the surrounding communities properly dispose of their household electronics at no cost.

5R Processors will be set up in the Lake Superior College parking lot on Friday, April 27th from 10:00am to 3:00pm where they will be accepting any old or obsolete electronics equipment.

The collection is open to the general public.

5R Processors will be accepting most consumer electronics and home office equipment including: computers, monitors, laptops, printers, TVs, stereo equipment, cell phones, microwaves, large household appliances, and more.

Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers will be accepted for $25 per appliance.

Sh-Boom Concert Coming Up

Sh-Boom is coming to the Sacred Heart Music Center in Duluth, to raise money for the Circle of Hope.

The concert is Friday, April 20th, from 7-10pm.

Tickets are $12. You can get them at the Electric Fetus, at the door, or www.sacredheartmusic.org
