In April, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection received a rash of complaints from victims of wire fraud, with scammers taking between $2,500 and $16,000 from the victims.

Curtis Oil's SuperAmericas are standing with kids!

Manager of Curtis Oil's Super America Mike Letica contacted First Witness Child Abuse Resource Center to offer help with their "I Stand With Kids!" campaign.

First Witness is promoting their campaign with SuperAmerica through selling Blue Kids flyers for $1 at participating stores. The campaign is centered on creating awareness about child abuse resources in our community and ways to get involved in preventing child abuse. April is national Child Abuse Prevention month.

First Witness operates from a 3,800-square foot headquarters in Duluth's Central Hillside neighborhood, built by the Junior League of Duluth and opened in 1993. It is an official Children's Advocacy Center accredited by the National Children's Alliance.

Crime Prevention Meeting in Superior

Superior Police and City Councilor, Len Joyal will be holding a public meeting on Wednesday, April 11 for residents of Superior's 6th District. The goal of the meeting is to inform residents about the possibility of starting a neighborhood watch group, and to discuss crime prevention strategies.

Authorities continue to look for leads in a string of arson fires that occurred in the 6th District of Superior over the last few weeks. Police say there have been no new leads. Superior Police will also use this time to inform the community about registered sex offenders in the area.

Residents are invited to attend the meeting at the Superior Public Library, 1530 Tower Ave.

Prayer Vigil Sunday at Shooting Scene

SUPERIOR - Religious leaders are organizing a Sunday afternoon prayer vigil at the site of an officer-involved shooting earlier this month.

Coffee with a Cop

The Superior police Department is implementing "Coffee with a Cop." In the Department's efforts to enhance communication and relationships with our citizens and the business community, we will be offering a time to have a cup of coffee and discuss issues in the community with police officers.

Police officers will be available to answer questions and hear the concerns of residents of our community. This will be a time when residents can get to know some of their local law enforcement officers. There is no agenda. Free coffee will be offered along with good conversation.

New CASDA Office

Starting Monday, February 27, the Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse will begin operating its outreach services from their new home at 318 21st Ave East, Superior.

CASDA's 24-hour helpline number has not changed and staff can still be reached by calling 715-392-3136.
