Treat mom to a day at the zoo for Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 13. Between 10 am and 1 pm the zoo will provide Mother’s Day cake, and coffee.

According to a press release, there will be a Teddy Bear Clinic for the kids. Bring your Teddy Bears or stuffed animals to the zoo for a vet check. The animals will be checked, bandaged, vaccinated and given a certificate of good health.

Free Electronics Recycling

As a part of their Earth Month activities, Lake Superior College is teaming up with 5R Processors, Ltd. of Ladysmith, WI to help Duluth-Superior and the surrounding communities properly dispose of their household electronics at no cost.

5R Processors will be set up in the Lake Superior College parking lot on Friday, April 27th from 10:00am to 3:00pm where they will be accepting any old or obsolete electronics equipment.

The collection is open to the general public.

5R Processors will be accepting most consumer electronics and home office equipment including: computers, monitors, laptops, printers, TVs, stereo equipment, cell phones, microwaves, large household appliances, and more.

Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers will be accepted for $25 per appliance.

Manager of Curtis Oil's Super America Mike Letica contacted First Witness Child Abuse Resource Center to offer help with their "I Stand With Kids!" campaign.

First Witness is promoting their campaign with SuperAmerica through selling Blue Kids flyers for $1 at participating stores. The campaign is centered on creating awareness about child abuse resources in our community and ways to get involved in preventing child abuse. April is national Child Abuse Prevention month.

First Witness operates from a 3,800-square foot headquarters in Duluth's Central Hillside neighborhood, built by the Junior League of Duluth and opened in 1993. It is an official Children's Advocacy Center accredited by the National Children's Alliance.
